MercyOne is relocating a downtown clinic to the Grand Crossings site. The move allows them to serve patients within the community’s emerging “Sports and Entertainment” district. The office is located next to the Cedar Valley Sportsplex and Hawkeye Community College, as well as numerous other new residential developments.
The City of Waterloo relied heavily on a previous EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant to return the underutilized former Grand Hotel site back to a productive re-use. Their aggressive work included completing environmental investigations, purchasing the property, demolishing all of the remaining structures, and actively marketing the vacant lot for redevelopment. MercyOne Grand Crossing Family Medicine will open on the former brownfields site in March 2020.
